2025 St. Rita Hall of Fame Inductee: John Nee ‘93
We are honored to induct John Nee '93 into the St. Rita Hall of Fame at our 88th Annual Alumni Banquet & Hall of Fame Dinner.
John Nee graduated from Queen of the Universe in 1989 and later chose to attend St. Rita. During his time at St. Rita, John was a three year varsity starter in both baseball and football. He earned multiple accolades, including being a two-time All-Chicago Catholic League selection in both sports. John was a two-time All-Area baseball player in the Daily Southtown and Chicago Sun-Times. He was also honored as Daily Southtown All-Area in football.
After St. Rita, John chose to continue his baseball and football career at the University of St. Francis (Joliet). He was a four-time letterwinner in football and a two-time letterwinner in baseball.
John graduated from St. Francis in 1998 and from there began to teach and coach back at St. Rita. He has built an incredible 27-year career at St. Rita High School, both in the classroom and on the field. He has held the positions of English teacher, Assistant Dean, and Dean of Students. John has been an Assistant Varsity Football Coach his entire career. He has been the Offensive Line Coach for all 27 years, including the past two seasons as the Offensive Coordinator.
On the baseball diamond, he was the Assistant Varsity Coach for 20 years and has been the Head Varsity Baseball Coach since 2018. Under his leadership, the team won the 2017 Summer State Championship, two CCL Blue Championships in 2019 and 2021, and four regional titles. In 2019, his team earned a Super-Sectional Championship and placed 3rd in the 3A Final.
In 2023, John was inducted into the Chicago Catholic League Hall of Fame, recognizing his 27 years and counting to both St. Rita and the student-athletes he has mentored over the years.
